Research briefs
How the research agent reads public sources about a company and why every fact carries its source URL.
When a signal becomes an opportunity, the pipeline runs a research stage
before drafting outreach. A tool-loop agent (AI SDK ToolLoopAgent, run inside
a workflow step) reads public sources about the company and writes a
research brief.
Tools
| Tool | Reads |
|---|---|
fetchWebsite | Public web pages: the company site, project pages, vacancies |
companyProfile | The KvK Handelsregister profile (legal form, SBI codes, address) |
priorSignals | Earlier signals in your organization that mention the company |
searchNews | Recent news headlines |
The website tool only fetches public http(s) hostnames. IP addresses, local names and redirects to them are refused. Each run can read at most six pages.
Sourced facts only
The brief has a summary, facts, and two or three outreach angles. Each fact names the URL it came from. After the agent finishes, SignalDock keeps only facts whose URL a tool actually opened during that run, so no fact is stored without a source. When the tools find little, the brief is short.
The writer uses these facts and angles as the only personal context for the first message.
Reuse and failures
A ready brief is reused for 30 days across signals about the same company. A failed run is stored with its error and never blocks the pipeline; outreach continues without research context.
Briefs are listed on the company page and through
GET /api/research-briefs.
